A Nepalese journalist who wrote about women’s rights has been killed. About 15 men entered the home of 24-year-old Uma Singh and stabbed her to death. The murder was committed in the town of Sarlahi, 90 kilometres south of the capital Katmandu. This region has seen increasing separatist violence.
The editor-in-chief of the newspaper Ms Singh worked for says she was killed for her reports in which she criticised the traditional dowry system and the role politicians play in the region’s unrest.
